What Is the
Right Way to Brush?
Proper brushing takes at least two minutes. Using a
stopwatch or egg timer can help. To properly brush your
teeth, use short, gentle strokes, paying extra attention to
the gumline. For fresher breath, remember to brush your
tongue too.
Three simple steps...
1. Tilt the brush at a 45° angle
against the gumline and sweep or roll the brush away
from the gumline.
2. Gently brush the outside,
inside and chewing surface of each tooth using short
back-and-forth strokes.
3. Gently brush your tongue to
remove bacteria and freshen breath.
What is the Right Way to
Floss?
Flossing removes plaque and food from between the teeth.
Daily flossing is highly recommended to avoid decay and gum
disease.
Three
simple steps...
1. Starting with about 40cm of
floss, wind most of the floss around each middle
finger, leaving a couple of centimetres of floss to
work with.
2. Holding the floss tight between
your thumbs and index fingers, slide it gently
up-and-down between your teeth.
3. Gently curve the floss around
the base of each tooth, making sure you go beneath the
gumline. Never snap or force the floss, as this may
cut or bruise delicate gum.
